The Truth About Abs: Hitting Plateaus and What to Do About It

Jul 22nd, 2011

Mike Geary, within his various e-zine articles as well as his book the Truth About Abs, indicates that there are ways to circumvent the frustrating plateau that just about everyone becomes faced with at one time or another. He indicates that many of these plateaus occur because many people will rarely; if ever, change their training variables. In fact, almost everyone sticks to the same types of exercises for the same reps and sets.

Mike is adamant that you can strategically modify your training to ensure that you maximize your muscle building and/or fat loss response to exercise.  There are many variables that he talks about including exercise grouping – such as super-setting, tri-sets, etc. – base of stability training – such as one-legged, on a stability ball, seated, etc. – changing the exercise angle – upright, bent over, declined, inclined, etc. – the sequencing of exercises and many more.  In addition, he gives you a list of different methods to try so that you can “spice up” your training routines.
